Ian Murray

Ian has experience providing project development, commercial, regulatory and finance services to the natural resource

sectors. This has included “hands on” project development and management roles for large greenfield projects. He has

considerable experience coordinating and implementing detailed feasibility studies, due diligence work, negotiation of

customer and supply contracts, and advising on regulatory and policy matters.

 

Colin Cook

Colin has an extensive knowledge of the oil industry from a 30 year career at Petro-Canada. Colin led the strategic,

planning, marketing, and commercial components of Petro-Canada’s Oil Sands strategy. He was heavily involved in the

development and economic analysis of upgrading strategies for the Edmonton refinery, the Fort Hills mining and

upgrading plan, major processing arrangements, and market assessments for oil sands production.

 

Hugh Fergusson

Hugh has a legal and senior management background and over 25 years of experience in complex transactions and

projects, including a role as Vice President, Hydrocarbons & Energy for Dow Chemical. Hugh is a past director of a

number of organizations including the Gas Processors Association of America, Petromont Inc., and the Petrochemical

Feedstock Association of the Americas.

 

Hal Gunardson

Hal has 37 years of engineering and commercial experience through positions including Manager of Commercial

Technology with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. and as a self-employed chemical process consultant. He supported

the development of a gasification technology demo plant and initiated and developed multi plant, multi-customer

hydrogen pipeline networks to serve the refining and oil sands upgrading industry.

 

Jim Horsman, Q.C.

Jim led a distinguished career in public service and politics spanning nearly twenty years. First elected to the Alberta

Legislature as MLA for Medicine Hat in 1975, he served five consecutive terms (1975 to 1993), fourteen years of which

he served as Minister of the Crown in roles ranging from Minister of Federal and Intergovernmental Affairs to Attorney

General and Deputy Premier. Jim chaired the Cabinet Task Force on International Trade Negotiations and was chief

NAFTA negotiator for the province.

 

Dennis Kohlman

Dennis has over 40 years of experience in the environment, health and safety (EH&S) aspects of the oil and gas

industry. He has managed EH&S compliance programs for major global oil and gas companies, and was Petro-Canada’s

Scientific Team Lead/Expert Witness for a number of government hearings. He has extensive experience in the

development of Environmental Impact Assessments and Socio-Environmental Impact Assessments, and led the

development of these assessments for large scale oil and gas industry applications.

Dermot Lane

Dermot Lane joined IMC following a long and successful career with Fording Coal and Elk Valley Coal. Dermot was

responsible for external relations programs targeted at the provincial, national and international level to respond to

political and public issues affecting the coal and mining sector. He also served in Environmental Affairs and Corporate

Communications.

 

Grant McNeil

Grant has over 30 years of corporate finance and project development experience. Grant was Vice-President,

Corporate and Energy Banking for ScotiaBank. He has particular expertise in feasibility analysis, financial modeling,

project financings, project management and commercial negotiations

 

Ian MacLean

Ian possesses over 20 years of regulatory and legal counsel experience in Alberta’s energy and resources sector, having

served in senior legal roles with Home Oil, Suncor, Enbridge, and Keyera. Ian also served as Marketing and Pipeline

Coordinator for Mobil Oil Canada/ExxonMobil Canada and was Keyera Corp.’s Director of New Business Development.

Fred McDougall

Fred has over 30 years of forestry and land use related experience in the public and private sectors. He served as

Deputy Minister for the Department of Forestry, Lands and Wildlife of Alberta. He was involved in all aspects of

forestry administration and management, including provincial programs for industry development.

 

Donald J. McLeod

Don has 40 years of wide-ranging project and construction management and operations experience. His operations

expertise includes the oil sands, petrochemical, pipelining, refining and fertilizer industries. Don recently managed the

SNC Lavalin Edmonton office.

 

Bob Milbourne

Bob had a distinguished 33 year career with Stelco Inc. which included serving as President, Chief Operating Officer and

Director. Bob is a past Commissioner with the BC Utilities Commission and the BC Securities Commission, and has held

Directorships of a number of large public and private organizations.

 

John Oxenford

John graduated with a BSc from the University of Queensland and an ME from Colorado School of Mines. He has spent

over 35 years in the resource industries in the USA, Australia and Canada including 24 years in the oil sands of Alberta

and over 10 years in the mineral sands industry in Canada and Australia.

John Percic

John has over 29 years of experience in communications, regulatory programs and stakeholder relations. He held

significant positions with Petro-Canada, Hibernia Management and Development Corporation, and the Terra Nova

Project. John developed and executed external communications in support of the Edmonton Refinery Conversion

Project and managed the stakeholder relations and regulatory programs for the proposed Fort Hills Upgrader.

George Rhodey

George has over 34 years of global experience in oil sands mining and upgrading, oil refining, refined oil & lubricating

oil, petrochemicals, fertilizer, and the natural gas/natural gas liquids industries. He had positions of increasing

responsibility in operating, planning, marketing, and management and is highly experienced in providing strategic

guidance and business development insight.

 

Brant Sangster

With over 30 years of industry experience, Brant has extensive hands-on experience in oil sands strategy and

development. He served as Senior Vice President Oil Sands at Petro-Canada and held numerous VP roles spanning the

downstream, corporate and upstream sectors for oil companies. He sits on the Board of Directors of several public

companies.

 

Greg Stone

Greg received a doctorate from the University of Oxford and lectured on modern political history and international

relations. He provides support to projects involving political and policy monitoring, strategy and messaging

development, stakeholder/government relations, and those which have heavy research components.

 

Rolf Wenzel

Rolf has over 24 years of experience in business development and technology transfer, co-founding, developing and

selling start-up companies. He has extensive business planning and due-diligence experience and has served in a

number of industry organizations including a chairman position of the Canadian Association of Geophysical

Contractors.

 

John Zaozirny

John served as Alberta’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources from 1982 to 1986, having first been elected as MLA

in 1979. He is Vice-Chairman of Canaccord Capital Corporation and is Director and a strategic advisor to a number of
